How does teaching Spinning® motivate you as an instructor?
I am always learning and receptive to know and grow more as a trainer, an educator and presenter. I am genuine in my absolute love for where I am and what I do. I believe teaching is a blessing and not a job. I am real.
Every single ride, no matter where it is in the world, I am forever learning from my students and the pathways that are open to us when we are on the bike. I love to get to know the people around me, hear their stories and the stories of others that they inspire.
Every time I create a profile and sit before a group to lead them down the road, I am as enthusiastic today as I was for my first Spinning® class.
What do you enjoy about leading Spinning® Instructor Trainings and Workshops?
My greatest desire is to help support the growth of everyone I teach and I do my best at conveying that through my passion and enthusiasm. I love to be able to give my riders the possibility to create whatever it is they desire through the Spinner® bike. To open up pathways of self-exploration, inner reflection, hard work and knock down previous thoughts of self-imposed limitations.
It is through my classes and presentations that I find the greatest joy to know that perhaps a word, a phrase, a song, a hill or maybe even just one person, could possibly help them to find strength and self-worth simply through riding a bike. So regardless of where this happens, I love to be able to create these opportunities.
Teaching Spinning, more so than any other of my fitness related roles, has been the basis of my growth as a coach and it has also allowed me to be comfortable with who I am and to find a voice to support others in accessing a better version of themselves. This is something that I value both in my weekly classes as an instructor and as a presenter training other instructors.
What is your favorite part about your job as a Spinning® Master Instructor?
It’s impossible to say what is my favorite part about this job! Working with Mad Dogg Athletics® and the Spinning program has been one of the most amazing adventures of all. These are just some of the reasons why I love the job:
- I have traveled the world to places I never would have visited
- Most of my dearest friends were born from my Spinning® experiences and now I call them my family
- I have met thousands of people that would never have crossed my path without our program
- I’ve ridden with people from countries I have never been to
- During rides I’ve laughed, cried, sweated and shared more of my deepest and most personal thoughts on the bike with complete strangers than in any other forum
- I’ve ridden for cancer, for disabled athletes, for children in hospital and severe burn victims
- I’m at my happiest when I ride
- Often in times of great joy or sorrow it is my Spinning family that is there to support me because we are kindred spirits
What’s your advice for anyone thinking about becoming a Certified Spinning® Instructor?
Through my teaching I aim to pass on the richness and magical transformational ability that the Spinning® provides. If you are motivated by the possibility of inspiring others to greatness then you are a wonderful candidate.
We are like no other fitness program anywhere in the world. We are a global family of people that are like-minded, creative, enthusiastic, hard working, crazy fit and super passionate.
The most rewarding part of being an instructor is having the ability to transform people’s lives.
